Wherever you go, always bring a reusable water bottle with you. At restaurants and coffee shops you can bring your own mug/cup and ask the staff to fill your drink in your cup, not a single-use cup.

Don't Use Plastic Straws

Not only are plastic straws not recyclable, but they contribute greatly to the dangers of wildlife and pollution of our oceans. They are small and are wasily broken down into microplasitics ➡️ more unforeseen dangers to our planet.

Use Reusable Bags

Plastic Bags are not recyclable at your normal residential recycler. However, grocery stroes do recycle them. It takes 12 million barrels of oil to make all the plastic needed for single-use plastic bags ❗️. Use Reusable Bags instead. You wont have to carry as many bags, it will make the grocery trips a lot easier.

Buy Items in Bulk

Bulk is when you buy items through wholesale. This can be at your local farmer’s market or is most commonly at food buyers’ clubs such as Costco and Sam’s Club. Little plastic packaging comes with the products.

Always be concious about what you buy and what packagin comes with those products. Flexible Packaging in not recyclable Each purchase has effects that can play a big role on your plastic consumption.

Ditch the Dryer Sheets

Wool Dryer Balls serve the save purpose as single-use dryer sheets. They can be used multiple times and result in less plastic consumption. Dryer Sheets are also known to release harmful chemicals and and toxins into the environment. This could be dangerous for someone with a repiratory illness. Wool Dryer Balls do not not have these dangers and are safer to use.

Buy Less, Buy Better

The rapid changes in the fashion industry cause people to buy quanitity over quality. Not only will the clothes not last long, but they won't be used a lot. When you buy clothes, think about the plastic packaging, think about the tens of gallons of water to make the dye, etc. Each item has an impact. To minimize the impact: buy clothes secondhand and from sustainible sources. Always think practically: will you get good use out of that item?

Use Eco-Friendly Soaps

Lot of the plastics tubs that are used for cleaning products are lot recyclable and create a lot of uneeded waste. Sustainably sourced bar soaps and bulk-buying natural cleaning supplies reduces the waste and fills your cleaning products with natural ingredients , which are safer.

Replace Single-Use Products with Reusable Cloth Based Products

Masks, gloves, napkins, paper towels, bags, and almost any other single use plastic item has a better cloth alternative. These products will last long and stop you from disposing of them the wrong way, reducing the amount of pollution in natural environments. In basic terms: single-use = bad

Contact Governmental Officials

Political officals can create large scale change. The first thing you should do if you can is vote. If you cannot do that, you can email you county's , state's, nation's officials and state your concerns regarding environmental health in your community. Whether it is to increase the accesibility of recycling programs or to install compost bins in your town, let your voice be heard.
